November 26, 2019
On 26th November we welcomed contract clients, Architects and Designers to our showroom for our ReThink industry event. The day began with a warm welcome and delicious refreshments.
As clients arrived and met the BOF team they had the opportunity to view the array of new products at our showroom featuring products from Orangebox, Allermuir, Hitch Mylius, Boss Design, Naughtone & Ocee Design.
Our event focused on a presentation by Nathan Hurley, Digital Manager at Orangebox based on the findings of his research into ‘Igen’ students and the potential impact of this most digitally engaged cohort entering the workplace; particularly looking at the workplace environments available to them and how that environment reflects what they have typically become accustomed to through extended periods in Higher Education institutions and the cutting edge facilities now present in said institutions through recent major, transformational investment.
‘iGens’ workplace expectations and aspirations may far exceed the reality in many cases – so how to bridge the gap through workplace design development to create ‘sticky’ environments that attract and retain ‘iGen’ talent.
Fully supported by Nathans now published research report ‘The Sticky Campus’ the presentation was delivered with passion and enthusiasm to a specially invited audience including delegates from Higher and Further Education, Welsh Government, Local Government, Architects, Project Management and supporting industries.
Following
the presentation BOF provided an informal lunch and refreshments in our
showrooms which afforded a platform for debate, cross sector engagement and
wider discussion around the challenges associated with ‘iGen’ integration
into the workplace.
Nathans expert presentation and captivating delivery style ensured the following informal event lunch sparked thought provoking conversation among a cohort of delegates directly involved in the development of prevailing education institutions and the subsequent workplaces into which the ’igenner’ student will ultimately seek employment.
This
BOF ReThink event has been a fantastic success and we wish to say a big thank
you to Nathan Hurley, Orangebox and all of the attending delegates for their insightful
and knowledgeable contributions – truly inspiring.
