Celebrating Circular Furniture Innovation with MTIB & WGCD

August 18, 2025

Today we visited the Merthyr Tydfil Institute for the Blind (MTIB) - a visit that reaffirmed our commitment to social impact, sustainability, and circular furniture innovation.

We're delighted to collaborate with MTIB, via the new Welsh Government Commercial Delivery Division Framework (WGCD) perfectly aligning our sustainable goals. The framework enables us to offer true circular furniture services - including remanufacturing, reupholstery, and bespoke furniture design.

Together with MTIB, a proud social enterprise supporting employment for people with disabilities, we bring together their manufacturing strength with our design, reupholstery and project delivery expertise - creating workspace that are not only sustainable but deeply socially responsible.

This collaboration goes beyond business: we’re enabling recirculation of furniture, emission savings, and delivering impactful community benefits that align with Wales’s circular economy strategy—"Beyond Recycling"—and the Well‑being of Future Generations (Wales) Act.

Thank you, MTIB, for a fantastic visit. We’re excited to showcase this transformative capability through the new WGCD framework.

“We, at MTIB, are delighted with the opportunity to work with BOF and are keen to help promote the services that we can offer. We believe that our design and manufacturing experience, along with the social value of our disabled workforce and our sustainability initiatives will provide a compelling offer to prospective customers of the WGCD Furniture Framework. We look forward to collaborating with the Team at BOF to develop our business that will help to secure and generate employment opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged persons.

Richard Welfoot
MITB Chief Executive Officer

Not only is this a great collaboration for the here and now, but looking ahead, we are excited about the potential to further innovate and expand our sustainable practices, setting new benchmarks for the industry and continuing to make a positive difference in communities; local and across the UK.’
