May 6, 2025

BOF has been honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development.

Announced today Tuesday 6 May, BOF has been recognised for its excellence in Sustainable Development. The Awards continue to constitute the highest honour that can be bestowed upon a British company across every sector. Receiving an award is proof of excellence and recognised worldwide.

The King’s Award for Enterprise is of the highest official UK accolades for British businesses, personally approved by His Majesty The King. This year, only a select group of businesses across the country were chosen to receive this distinguished honour, often compared to a Corporate Knighthood.

With this award, BOF joins a distinguished group of UK businesses recognised for setting new standards in sustainability. The company will now carry the King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years as a mark of excellence.

Employing 52 people, BOF is a family-run business boasting 40 years ‘experience, based in Bridgend, South Wales with additional facilities in Birmingham and Merthyr Tydfil. BOF creates inspiring, and sustainable spaces by designing and installing new/reconditioned workspaces and furniture. BOF has been on a sustainability journey and has now grown to become an innovative industry leader reducing waste through furniture reuse, re-upholstery, and donation of surplus furniture. BOF success is demonstrated by an impressive range of clients including Universities, the BBC, the Police, and NHS facilities. The commitment to ethical business practices runs alongside a sustainable business model and has been driven by its founder. Its approach and achievements are recognised through a range of green business, sustainability awards, and accreditations. The solutions are replicable and can be scaled up leading to more sustainable use of furniture and work/education spaces throughout the UK.

“We are proud and grateful to receive such esteemed recognition from His Majesty, The King. The King’s Award (formerly Queen’s Award) is recognised as the highest achievement a business can be given for services. A heartfelt thank you to our committed Team, who’s dedication has made this achievement possible. Their knowledge and insight are invaluable. This award is not only a celebration of our past efforts but a catalyst for future progress. It strengthens our resolve to lead by example and continue driving meaningful change within our industry. We are excited for what lies ahead as we work to redefine what’s possible in sustainability."

Michael Parrish
Owner of BOF

In addition, Jessica Marshall BOF Sustainability and Communications Manager, said:

“Receiving confirmation that His Majesty The King has approved the Prime Minister’s recommendation that BOF should receive a Kings Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development was remarkable. We submitted the application September 2024 and I’ve been checking the official Government web page for announcements ever since! Having worked incredibly hard to achieve this award with John Tovey, BOF Contracts Manager, with the full backing of our Team we can now celebrate the great work we have achieved. Being honoured with the Kings Award strengthens our industry positioning, we will continue to promote our sustainable initiatives and are determined to drive positive environmental change.”

The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed in 2023 to reflect His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s by recognising outstanding UK businesses. The Award programme, now in its 59th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
