BOF Achieves FISP (S), Strengthening Our Commitment to Circular Sustainability

August 5, 2026

BOF is delighted to announce that we have achieved FISP (S) Certification, further strengthening our commitment to delivering sustainable, circular furniture solutions for the public and private sectors.

The Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP) is the UK's leading independently audited sustainability certification created specifically for the furniture industry. Building on the long-established FISP framework, the new FISP (S) certification places an even greater focus on product sustainability, circular economy principles and responsible end-of-life management, aligning with the latest SKA Rating Office Environmental 2.0 requirements.

For BOF, achieving FISP (S) reflects the way we already work.

Through our Closing the Loop sustainable furniture programme, we help organisations maximise the value of their existing furniture by prioritising refurbishment, reupholstery, remanufacture and reuse before recommending new products. This approach reduces carbon emissions, diverts furniture from waste management routes and delivers significant financial savings for our clients.

The enhanced FISP (S) certification recognises organisations that we demonstrate:

  • Sustainable product design and eco-design principles
  • Circular economy and end-of-life strategies
  • Availability of remanufactured or second-life products
  • Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) where applicable
  • Continuous improvement across environmental, social and economic sustainability.

As sustainability expectations continue to evolve across public procurement, higher education, healthcare and commercial workplaces, FISP (S) provides clients with additional confidence that BOF's processes, products and services are independently assessed against recognised industry standards.

John Tovey Contracts Manager at BOF, said:

"Achieving FISP (S) is another important milestone in BOF's sustainability journey. It reinforces our commitment to helping organisations embrace circular procurement by extending the life of furniture wherever possible, reducing embodied carbon and delivering measurable environmental and financial benefits. Independent certification provides further assurance that our approach is aligned with recognised best practice across the furniture industry."

FISP (S) complements BOF's wider sustainability commitments, including our carbon reporting, circular economy initiatives, local manufacturing partnerships and ongoing investment in sustainable furniture solutions designed to support clients on their own journey towards Net Zero.

Achieving FISP (S) is one of several recent sustainability milestones for BOF. Alongside this certification, we have also become a licensed member of the SEAQUAL Initiative, enabling us to offer selected upholstery fabrics manufactured using certified marine plastic recovered from oceans, rivers and beaches. Together these initiatives strengthen our commitment to delivering innovative, circular and environmentally responsible furniture solutions.
