University of Wales Trinity St David - Construction Wales Innovation Centre

The Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC) is a unique all-Wales Hub & Spokes training facility funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) with its Hub situated within the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s new £350 million waterfront Innovation Quarter development.

The Hub, which opened in September 2018, offers specialised training and includes a purpose built scaffolding centre. This landmark partnership will support future workforce needs, skills development and innovation in the Welsh construction sector.

Situated in phase one of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s new £350m SA1 Swansea Waterfront development, the building was constructed by Kier. It covers 1,000 square metres of floor space, providing a ConstructZone, classrooms, dedicated IT suites and conference facilities.

Around 1,550 people have received training from CWIC, support has been provided to in excess of 350 companies and more than 220 courses, events and other activities have been completed – before the hub has even been built at the SA1 waterfront site.

To date the partnership which includes Coleg Sir Gâr, Coleg Ceredigion, Coleg Cambria and Coleg y Cymoedd , has supported 305 Welsh employers through its engagement with Welsh construction industry professionals, operatives and related staff.

Following the installation at the IQ Building on the UWTSD SA1 Campus we were asked to also supply loose furniture throughout the CWIC Building as the approved furniture supplier to the University.

“Following the successful completion of the IQ Building we were confident that BOF could fulfil the requirements of CITB for the CWIC building. The client workshops at BOF’s showroom and end-user collaborations proved invaluable in delivering the desired scheme.”
