Wrap Up 7th September

Thursday, 6 September, 2018

Well it's September already! We're sorry we haven't had chance to update you for a while. The summer has been very busy for our installation teams and university clients. Here's some of what's been going on at BOF recently...

Swansea Bay

Our Capital Projects team visited serveral projects in Swansea Bay including 'The College', IMPACT Building and Computational Foundry at Swansea University. The installation at 'The College' started on Monday.

The Computational Foundry will be a bespoke environment built from the ground up to house Computational Scientists within the heart of the Bay Campus. The Foundry is designed to allow increased collaboration between industry / academia engagement with inspirational space, events and seminar rooms, meeting areas to enable these conversations to flourish. The Computational Foundry install is now in its third week.

University of Wales Trinity St David - IQ Building

The Academic Building, known as IQ is a 10,107 sq. m building, comprising of a single storey area known as ‘Tech’, and a four storey area known as ‘Flexi’. The flexi space comprises of a series of multi-purpose flexible teaching and learning spaces, computer labs, specialised teaching spaces, and academic work space. SA1 will be the new home for the Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Engineering (FACE) , Yr Athrofa, The Institute of Education, the library and the Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC).

As the installation is now complete our photographer Matthew visited this week to capture case study photography. The building looks fantastic!

Bridgend College Success Centre

Our photographers also visited Bridgend College's new Success Centre in the LRC on Cowbridge Road, Bridgend following our installation over the summer.

University of Nottingham, Teaching & Learning Hub

The latest addition to University Park campus at the University of Nottingham is the Teaching and Learning Hub. Positioned adjacent to Hallward Library and in the centre of campus, this will provide a much needed boost to the University's teaching requirements. The new £20 million Teaching and Learning Hub will create a 5,000m2 teaching facility including a collaborative 300 seat lecture theatre, performing arts space, differing size teaching rooms, social learning hub and staff offices.

The installation of Levels A - D is almost complete with Level E to follow.

Birmingham City University, Curzon Library

The Curzon Building is a state-of-the-art building at Birmingham City University’s City Centre Campus. Home to the University’s Business, English, Law, Social Sciences Students and a newly refurbished library.

We have recently installed additional Vitra Joyn Desking in open plan, collaborative study areas; combined with Workbay booths to provide quiet spaces for individual work. As the Curzon Library is open 24 hours a day, it was important sufficient lighting and power were provided for students to study comfortably no matter what time of day.

Visit to Lexon

Our Marketing team headed to Newport to visit Lexon Group. We had a great meeting and enjoyed the tour.
